A ram-raider who stole £10,000 worth of tobacco during a night-time crime spree targeting shops, containers and a farm shop across the Isle of Wight has admitted his guilt in the Crown Court.
41-year-old Nicky Dickinson, of Barton Road in Newport, appeared in court on Friday (10th October), where he pleaded guilty to a range of burglaries, thefts, driving offences and drug possession carried out between March and May this year.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Dickinson was involved in a concentrated crime spree on 23rd May, which saw multiple premises targeted within hours. He ram-raided Ultra Premier Store on Clarendon Road in Newport, stealing around £10,000 worth of cigarettes and tobacco.
That same night, he broke into a container on Palmers Road in Wootton and stole a high-powered air rifle, before then raiding The Cow Shed farm shop in Havenstreet. He later attempted to gain access to Sandown Jewellers by reversing a car into the shopfront.
Dickinson also admitted 2 earlier burglaries at The Barton Washeteria and Newport Launderette, where cash was taken.
Additional offences include:
- Theft of a Land Rover in Calbourne
- Aggravated vehicle taking involving a Ford Ranger
- Driving whilst disqualified on Main Road, Havenstreet
- Shop thefts from TK Maxx and Central Convenience Store
- Possession of Class A cocaine in Newport on 23rd May
He has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 12th December.
