Whether you’re a seasoned artist looking to expand your skills or a beginner eager to explore your artistic potential, Quay Arts’ Summer school short courses let you explore traditional techniques, experiment with innovative mediums and methods, and fuel your creativity. This year’s curated selection of courses includes traditional Chinese folk art folded ‘thread books’ with Kae Carlstedt-Duke, innovative abstract approaches to landscape painting with Martin Swan, colour theory and mixing techniques with Lucia Para and an introduction to the art of plaster imprint casting with India Allin. If you are interested in sustainable arts and crafts workshops then there are 2 ‘Greening the Arts’ courses devised especially for Summer School by artist Melanie Swan – ‘Introduction to screen-printing with affordable ecofriendly materials’ and a taster day making your own Watercolours (Gum tempera). All Summer School courses are held at the Jubilee Stores artist’s studios complex located just along the river from the Quay Arts Centre. Tickets can be booked via the www.quayarts.org.
