imageUPDATED: A hotel on the outskirts of Shanklin was evacuated during the early hours of this morning after a fire broke out in the pump house for the on-site swimming pool.

Guests at Luccombe Hall Hotel were told to leave the building shortly before 03:00 whilst firefighters tackled the small blaze to the rear of the hotel, an incident that prompted three appliances to respond to the scene from Newport, Shanklin and Ventnor.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire, which was successfully extinguished before 04:00.

No one was injured in the incident and the hotel remains open.

The hotel manager has praised the fast response of fire crews.
