A public meeting is to be held in Freshwater next week to discuss an escalation in criminal and nuisance behaviour by youths in the West Wight, which is said to be affecting local residents and businesses.
According to locals, a small numbner of young people in the area are causing a considerable amount of nuisance to those living and working in Freshwater, with some of the behaviour being deemed criminal. It’s said to be extremely concerning.
Such behaviour includes bus drivers being threatened and roads blocked to stop the progression of buses.
West Wight Sports & Community Centre is hosting the meeting and is inviting locals along to discuss the problems, with the aim of drawing up an action problem to tackle the situation.
It is hoped that the Police, local councillors and other senior local figures will attend the meeting on Monday 16th January to assure West Wight residents of their support on the matter.
The meeting is beind held at the community centre on Monday 16th January at 18:00.
Find the parents of these kids and explain to them they are legally responsible for their children until they reach 18 years of age.
If these kids persist in causing trouble, put them on a curfew. Stop them from going out at night and getting up to God knows what.
If that doesn’t work, fine the parents. It might just get their attention then!
there are plenty of ways of dealing with arrogant little shites, but no, lets have a meeting, which will achieve nothing
if it is criminal behaviour and it is known who did it – the police should already have the litte Cnuts in custody
their parents should then be hauled into court also and have their benefits sanctioned for crappy parenting.
if that doesn’t work – then perhaps alternative methods need to be tried – which will result in getting the full attention of the little imbeciles.

Have lived in West Wight and worked in West Wight, ran several businesses in West Wight for 23 years….. Never had a problem with the youth

The Police should identify all the parents of these kids and make them attend this public meeting with the residents and business owners who are being targeted by these ferral kids.

I’m sure the police would like to names these kids but they can’t. I couldn’t agree more the parents should be held to account but there is no law at this moment for being a shit parent. I wonder if social services will be at this meeting, most probably not because it’s after 4pm
