A 20-year-old from Kent, who was arrested at the Travelodge in Ryde on suspicion of child sex offences last month, has had the case against him dropped.
Ryan Loveday, of Rochester, was alleged to have met an underage girl at the Lind Hill hotel at the beginning of last month.
He was arrested and taken into custody for questioning, with forensic called in to examine the hotel room. He was held for an extended period of time before being charged with 3 offences, namely engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15, engaging in non-penetrative activity with a girl aged 13-15 and attempted sexual assault by penetration of a girl 13 or over.
Mr Loveday appeared in court and was remanded in custody.
However, it has been confirmed that the case was discontinued last week due to insufficient evidence.
