Isle of Wight families can start thinking about planning holidays for next year as the proposed school term dates for the 2026/27 academic year have been revealed.
It is proposed that children will head back to school on Wednesday 2nd September 2026, with the year ending fairly late on 28th July 2027.
The Christmas break will be between 18th December 2026 and 4th January 2027 – a little over 2 weeks.
If approved by the Isle of Wight Council’s Cabinet later this month, schoolchildren will have the following holidays in 2026/27:
- October half term – break up Friday 16th October 2026, returning Monday 2nd November 2026
- Christmas – break up Friday 18th December 2026 returning Monday 4th January 2027
- February half term – break up Friday 12th February 2027 returning Monday 22nd February 2027
- Easter – break up on Thursday 25th March 2027 returning Monday 12th April 2027
- May half term – break up Friday 28th May 2027 returning Monday 7th June 2027
Cabinet members are due to meet next Thursday (13th March). It’s at this point that the dates will be finalised.
