UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Firefighters are tonight (Sunday) responding to reports of a property fire with persons reported in Clarence Road, East Cowes.
Two appliances from Newport and one from East Cowes are currently responding to the scene having been alerted at 21:34.
UPDATE @ 22:15: Three appliances and the Incident Command Unit are on scene at a terraced property on Clarence Road near to the junction with School Hill Road.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus have extinguished the fire in the living room of the property and have used a ventilation fan to rid the building of smoke.
One person, believed to be male, is being treated by paramedics for the effects of smoke inhalation having been led to safety by firefighters.
Police are on scene and have closed the road in both directions.
UPDATE @ 22:30 – One appliance has now left the scene and returned to Newport Fire Station.
An ambulance and accompanying officer have also left the scene.
The road remains closed.
UPDATE @ 22:40 – Emergency services have now stood down from the incident.
Clarence Road has reopened in both directions.
