Police have searched 2 properties on the Isle of Wight as part of a drugs investigation, which was launched after a driver was arrested in Wootton yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
A vehicle was stopped by officers on High Street shortly after midday. It’s driver, a 48-year-old man from Cowes, was subsequently detained and take into custody at Newport Police Station.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the male was arrested on suspicion of acquire/use/possess criminal property, possess a controlled drug of Class A, possession of a controlled drug of Class A and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
A property in Wootton, and another in Cowes, were both searched by Police as part of the investigation, which remains ongoing at this time.
The 48-year-old suspect has since been released from custody, pending further enquiries.
