Police have launched an investigation following a serious assault inside the walls of HMP Isle of Wight – believed to be on a prison officer. The incident is said to have taken place at the Albany site on Friday evening (22nd December) – just 3 days before Christmas. Island Echo is told that a prison officer was badly assaulted by an inmate who allegedly threw hot water over the officer. A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the force is investigating an assault which took place at HMP Isle of Wight. Enquiries are ongoing with no arrests made at this time.
