UPDATED: Residents in the Ventnor, Whitwell, Niton and Chale areas are without power this evening (Friday) following an outage in the area.
At around 16:30 over 175 postcode areas were affected by the power cut, although that number has now been reduced to 66.
Engineers from Southern and Scottish Energy (SSE) are currently on site in Niton and are working to restore a normal supply to those affected customers in the PO38 region by 20:30.
Island Echo readers report that power remains intermittent.
