POWER CUT HITS NEWPORT PROPERTIES

sseA power cut has this morning hit homes and businesses in the Staplers and Pan areas of Newport, leaving around 1700 properties without electricity.

7 sets of traffic lights at Coppins Bridge are also effected by the power outage. Island Roads are advising motorists to take care when passing through the area.

Island Echo understands that power was lost shortly after 06:15 this morning and that engineers have started work to repair the fault.

UPDATE @ 07:30 – Power is slowly being restored to some properties in the area.

UPDATE @ 08:20Island Echo understands that power has been restored to the majority of properties in the area, however the Isle of Wight Council are still reporting that 7 sets of traffic lights are down at Coppins Bridge.
