UPDATED: A boy has been conveyed to hospital with possible spinal injuries following an incident in Sandown this afternoon (Sunday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the beach at Culver Parade shortly after 15:00 following what is understood to be reports that a 12-year-old boy had landed on his head after doing flips and somersaults.
HM Coastguard have assisted paramedics in stretchering the boy into the awaiting ambulance, which has now taken the casualty to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
UPDATE – Thankfully, it has been confirmed that the youngster has not broken any bones but has instead suffered muscle damage.
The boy’s mother has praised all those who helped at the scene.
