Newport IW FC will be seeking a 3rd successive victory when they take on 10th-placed Ringwood Town at the Zilch Waste Stadium (Westwood Park) today.
Port began the season poorly with 4 consecutive defeats. However, since losing to Whitchurch United on 16th August, the County Town club have beaten Pagham on penalties in the FA Vase then defeated Lymington Town in their first game at Westwood Park, following which they overcame Yateley United in North Hampshire last Saturday.
Opponents Ringwood have been in poor form of late, having lost 5 of their last 6 fixtures. The 2 games between the clubs last season both ended all-square.
Newport manager Joe Butcher says of his side’s prospects:
“I’m looking forward to the game, we played well against Lymington at home and we’ve built some momentum since winning the Vase game.
“I don’t see it being an easy game, they were a top 6/7 side last year and had one of the top scorers in the league (Lee Vint) who is joint top this season as well.
“They’ve probably not had the start they’ve wanted but I definitely wouldn’t describe them as an ‘easy’ 3 pts by any means. We’ll need to be at our best to get a result.”

Hamworthy Recreation v Cowes Sports is OFF (ferry issues).
In the Wessex Premier, 10th-placed Cowes Sports travel to Dorset to face 8th-placed Hamworthy Recreation.
The Yachtsmen have been in excellent league form, winning 3 of their 4 fixtures in the season to date; opponents Hamwothy Rec have won 3 of their 6 league fixtures.
Co-manager Ian Potts says of the fixture and his side’s prospect:
“Hamworthy is another hard game. They’ve started the season well and signed some players with higher non-league experience. They’re a good solid team – always in the top end of the table.
Hopefully, we’ll get a few back, put in a performance and get a result.”
