Police are investigating break ins at 2 separate pharmacies in Ryde overnight, with a quantity of prescription medication stolen.
It was just before 00:30 this morning (Saturday) that the alarm was activated at Boots Pharmacy (Tower House) on Rink Road – for the second time this week.
Officers responded to the scene and discovered a window at the side of the premises had been smashed, with an individual – or individuals – gaining entry to the pharmacy.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that medication is now missing from Boots.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, officers have been investigating a break-in at Gibbs & Gurnell pharmacy on Union Street.
A rock was used to smash a window at the front of the store, but no medication is thought to have been stolen in this incident.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary in relation to the Union Street break-in – with investigations underway to determine if it is linked with the break-in at Rink Road.
He remains in custody at this time.
Gibbs & Gurnell was closed for a time but has since reopened. Boots is not open on a Saturday, but is expected to reopen as normal on Monday.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary on 101, with the reference 44250493865.

IF ever/when those responsible get apprehended, I can guarantee that there will be no commensurate punishment. The so-called Defence ‘Counsel’ with trot out some sob story regarding battling with substance addiction/not being ‘able’ to work, family dependents etc, etc…
WHEN will the Judiciary finally accept that PUNISHMENT is what is required not a ‘don’t be a naughty person and promise not to do it again’ pathetic result. Why should all costs involved fall on the actual Tax Payer?
You chose to thieve and misbehave, understand that there will be consequences!!!
with the hollowing out of the justice system by the pathetic lefty woke do gooders, the uk is rapidly heading towards the position that most third world countries are in. That means virtually no police, no arrests for things such as theft and citizens are left to ensure their businesses are like fort knox and are given carte blanche to deal out community justice to the offenders as they see fit – and that is usually violent and deadly
perhaps it is time to have the punishment for theft like this to be taken out of the back of the courts and shot by firing squad.
the sad fact is that the island shops will now have to start installing steel roller shutters just like other places that have seen an influx of deadbeats, junkies and illegals.
That is very true, steel shutters and CCTV is the only
way to go.
