Police are appealing for information to help identify the driver of a lorry which damaged a passing car on Middle Road earlier this afternoon (Thursday).
At 15:00, a white 7.5t lorry was driving along Calbourne Road towards Newport when the rear door suddenly swung open, striking a passing vehicle and causing significant damage.
The driver did not stop at the scene – just past The Sun Inn. Police believe the driver may not have been aware that the incident had occurred.
If you believe you were the driver of the lorry then get in touch with Police on 101 so that insurance details can be exchanged. If anyone else has information in relation to this incident dial 101 quoting the reference number 44200253112.

There is No-Way he wouldn’t have known.
Yeah it’s not like he / she got to the destination and noticed the door was open or anything like that.
surely the draft from the door opening would have alerted the driver, and which ever way you look at it it would have been more than likely the drivers door that caused the damage “striking a passing vehicle and causing significant damage”
Probably not insured or not wanting to tell boss if a company vehicle as it sounds like door wasn’t shut properly. Doubt they’ll come forward
