UPDATED: An Armed Response Unit and Dog Handler are attending a Police-led incident at an address in Parkhurst near Newport this evening (Monday).
An adult male is situated inside a house on Rooke Street, near the prisons, in what has been described as a volatile situation.
An Ambulance, rapid response paramedic and ambulance officer are also on scene having been alerted to the incident at just before 17:00.
Island Echo understands Police officers are working to deescalate the situation.
No one has been injured and there is no risk to the wider public.
UPDATE @ 19:50– A man has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital this evening following a safe conclusion to the situation.
Emergency services have now stood down from the incident.
