A search for a high risk missing person has been launched in the West Wight this afternoon (Sunday), with the National Police Air Service helicopter scrambled to assist.
Police have descended on the area of Tennyson Down near Freshwater in their efforts to locate the missing individual, with several units responding to a car park at Highdown Lane.
It’s understood that Ambulance and Coastguard resources have also been deployed, alongside the Bournemouth-based NPAS helicopter that is currently circling overhead.
Hampshire Constabulary is yet to release any details.
UPDATE @ 17:55 – WightSAR, the Island’s volunteer search and rescue team, have been deployed to assist with the search.
UPDATE – It’s understood that the missing individual has been located safely and is now in the care of emergency teams.
All resources have been stood down from the search.
Lets hope they are found soon and fit and well.
How kind of the searchers to be out on such an awfully dark wet and windy eve. Let’s hope they are rewarded by finding the person well.
