UPDATED: POLICE, FIREFIGHTERS AND PARAMEDICS CALLED TO MIDDLE ROAD CRASH NEAR CALBOURNE

Emergency services are in attendance on Middle Road between Chessell and Calbourne this morning (Tuesday) in response to a road traffic collision. It’s understood that 1 vehicle has been involved in the smash on the B3401 Newport Road, to the West of Calbourne Mill. It’s thought the collision occurred just before 07:55. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has mobilised a number of resources to the scene, with a fire appliance from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service also on scene. Police are thought to have closed the road in both directions with motorists being diverted locally. UPDATE @ 10:42 – No serious injuries have been reported after a white Vauxhall Corsa left the road, coming to a stop nose-down in a ditch. It’s thought that the vehicle was travelling towards Newport when the crash occurred. The road has now re-opened in both directions.
