UPDATED: Police are in attendance at a property in East Cowes this morning (Tuesday) after a female was rushed to hospital last night.
2 ambulances and Police were called to an address at the junction of York Avenue and Castle Street at 19:30. Once at the property, paramedics spent around 35 minutes on scene.
At just before 20:30 the casualty was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital with both ambulances blue lighting into Newport – a strong indication of the seriousness of the situation.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are this morning present in the town and have taken position outside the block of flats at the centre of last night’s medical emergency. It is understood they have been in attendance throughout the night.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on the incident.
UPDATE @ 13:55 – A 41-year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital following a drugs overdose.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that they have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.
UPDATE THURSDAY – Police have confirmed that the 41-year-old woman admitted to hospital on Tuesday has died.
The 39-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug has been released without charge, but he remains under investigation.
