UPDATED: Police are in attendance at Culver Down near Sandown this evening (Saturday) as they search for a missing person with the assistance of HM Coastguard.
Multiple Police vehicles have gathered in one of the viewpoint car parks on the cliff top as they begin a search for what is understood to be a missing person. No details have been released.
Members of the public have been asked to keep away from the cliff edges whilst the incident is ongoing.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are on scene and multiple reports have been received that Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Service are en-route to the incident.
UPDATE @ 19:40 – Coastguard Rescue Officers have attached rope lines and have made their way to the cliff edge as part of the ongoing search.
2 Coastguard Rescue Teams are now in attendance alongside at least 5 Police vehicles and Bembridge RNLI’s Inshore lifeboat, which is searching the rocks at the base of the 300ft cliff.
UPDATE @ 19:58 – Search and rescue teams have now been stood down from the incident following the discovery of the missing man, safe and well, in Bembridge.
Police have now left the scene and Coastguard Rescue Teams are preparing to return to their individual stations.
