UPDATED: Police and Coastguard Rescue Teams are this evening (Monday) in attendance at Lake Cliff Gardens where it is understood a person has gone over the cliff edge.
Emergency services were called to the scene between Sandown and Shanklin at around 21:20.
The incident is understood to have occurred near to a recent landslide and the area has been cordoned off whilst the incident is ongoing.
UPDATE TUESDAY – It has been confirmed this morning that one male was rescued from the cliff edge last night after becoming stuck on the cliff whilst trying to retrieve a mobile phone.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue were called to the scene and brought the man to safety after a group of people aged in their 20s climbed around safety fencing protecting a landslip area.
Thankfully, the man did not sustain any injuries and did not require any medical assistance.
