A former Boots store in Sandown could house new residential accommodation – and retain a commercial usage.
Nicola Stewart has submitted a prior approval application to install a ground-floor apartment at 107 High Street in Sandown, which is currently vacant.
The proposed home would comprise a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and WC, with the premises’s shopfront remaining in commercial use.
A Planning and Heritage Statement from Andrew White Planning Consultancy says:
“The application site is surrounded on all sides by residential development (above and to the sides). The neighbouring ground floor commercial uses are both within Class E, one being a shop and the other a hairdressers.
“Both generate very little in the way of noise. Therefore, there is likely to be no adverse impact from commercial premises on the intended occupiers of the development.”
The Isle of Wight Council’s public consultation on application 26/00009/3MAPA is live until 7th April and a decision is scheduled for 28th April.

Why is this even a story?
