34-year-old Reece Chilcott has avoided a prison sentence, despite breaking into pharmacies, stealing alcohol, and being caught with an imitation handgun on the streets of Newport.
Chilcott, of Slade Road in Ryde, has been sentenced at the Isle of Wight Crown Court for a string of offences committed last year, including multiple burglaries, theft and possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.
In September, Reece Chilcott broke into 2 Day Lewis Pharmacy branches over the course of just 5 days. He targeted the High Street branch in Newport on 11th September, the Carisbrooke branch on the 16th September, and the Newport branch again on the same day.
He pleaded guilty to all 3 break-ins, each involving trespass with intent to steal.
The 34-year-old also admitted to possessing a silver starter pistol imitation firearm in Newport town centre on 6th September, and to stealing 6 bottles of alcohol worth £167 from Morrisons in Sandown on 19th August.
In addition, Chilcott pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to court bail on 16th September, having been released on bail just 3 days earlier by Portsmouth Magistrates Court.
Despite the serious nature of the offences, Chilcott was not sent to prison. Instead, he was made the subject of a community order running until 7th January 2028. The sentence includes a non-residential drug rehabilitation programme with regular reviews under the supervision of Probation/Inclusion.
He must provide samples for drug testing over a 12-month period and take part in up to 35 days of rehabilitation activity as instructed by the responsible officer.
As part of the sentence, Chilcott has also been ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £114.
This latest sentencing comes after Chilcott was previously jailed for 4 years in 2020 for a Boxing Day robbery in Newport.

Are you joking non custodial ??? What more does he have to do ? He is one of life’s losers, never going to amount to anything but just take take take because of drugs ! Choices & consequences!!!!
Speachless…
What on earth does a piece of scum like this have to do for another jail sentence. Why are the public not being protected?
Britain is pretty much lawless thesedays.
Back in the 1700s people were hanged for stealing a
loaf of bread.
How times have changed.
Well you would be in trouble for repetition “numbty”shows a village fool like mentality, off to the stocks with you!simple answer if you all stop waving pitchforks at sentencing magistrate they have been instructed all the prisons are full no more room at the inns ,and no not with illegal immigrants with our own blend of stupidity and nastiness of which we are over burdened!wave your pitch forks at The Home Office and past government who did not put money into new prison infrastructure, they thought crime would fanish like a fools mist perhaps!.
You beat me to it.
Crime pays so why work
Ridiculous
The chilcots seems to get off very lightly, there should be a separate island echo page for that family
New government, new sentence laws when our prisons are emptied with foreign criminals being deported.
Oh that’s nice for him …whats the fucking point.
How does it cost to rent Chinese prison space? It must be cheaper than £53,000 a year and much more of a deterrent.
Low life scum left laughing again while it’s victims left to count the cost
All pharmacies need decent shutters and CCTV etc.
If only he’d tweeted something the government doesn’t like; he’d have got two and a half years inside.
I despair!
Criminals should have their cars seized and be banned from driving that would have impact. It’s even more sensible if drugs are an issue. Thats a sentence that does not cost the taxpayers and is actually beneficial to them.
