A person has been airlifted to hospital this afternoon (Friday) after falling on some steps leading to Shanklin Beach.

Coastguard Rescue 104 helicopter from Lee-on-Solent was tasked to assist the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service at around 14:35 before coming in to land at Shanklin Beach.
The helicopter was requested due to the hard-to-reach location of the casualty near to Rylstone Gardens. Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were also called to the scene.
The patient, who is understood to have suffered a suspected ankle fracture, has been airlifted to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport for further treatment.
The helicopter landed just before 15:00.
