A pensioner has been treated in hospital for minor injuries this afternoon (Saturday) after her vehicle collided with another and rolled onto its side on a quiet side road in Binstead.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Greenway on Binstead estate shortly after 11:10 following reports of a road traffic collision with one person trapped.
Two appliances from Ryde Fire Station turned out to the incident and freed the elderly female by removing the car’s windscreen before transferring her into the care of paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
At the same time in nearby Fishbourne, paramedics and Police were called to a minor road traffic incident when a vehicle veered from the carriageway and into some bollards. No one was injured in the incident, however a medical episode is understood to be behind the collision.
One male was taken to hospital by ambulance.
