A total of 21 teams took to the fairways for the annual Joint Captains’ Am-Am competition at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club last week (Saturday 9th July).
The competition allowed for the best 2 scores on each hole to count, with the exception of the par 3s where all four scores counted. Suffice it to say, the pin positions on the par 3s were deviously placed and not particularly conducive to good putting.
The best Ladies’ team, and overall winners on countback, were Ruth Graves, Donna Beason, Amanda Wade and Bev Lowrie with 111 points.
The best Men’s team, also with 111 points, were Peter Broome, Jim Garriock, Nigel Bishop and Philip Nye.
Winners in the mixed Team were Howard and Christine Smith and Robert and Gaynor Oliver, scoring 108 points.
The day raised £600 for the Captains’ charity, SSAFA.
