Freshwater Bay Golf Club has handed over a cheque for £4,050 to FYT Bus following year-long fundraising efforts for the West Wight charity.
FYT Bus is an Island-based charity that improves access to local health, social, retail and leisure amenities for the residents of and visitors to the West Wight. The bus is run by volunteers and all scheduled routes include a passenger assistant who is there to help passengers if they need it.
At their recent annual Christmas Lunch, Freshwater Bay Golf Club Captain Tony Hammonds presented a cheque for £4,050 to the charity. The funds were raised thanks to the generosity of club members through various special events in 2022 such as the Charity Day in August and club stalwart ‘Iron-man’ Steve Orchard’s 62-mile hike around the Island in just 1 day.
Mike Craig, representing FYT Bus, gave a speech explaining the difference that the money will make to the charity and the positive impact it will have on the local community.
