OSBORNE GOLF CLUB HOSTS ISLE OF WIGHT CAPTAIN’S DAY

Osborne Golf Club was the venue for this year’s Captain’s Day, with 56 players taking part in a 9-hole Texas Scramble competition in teams of 4. Joan Dalrymple – Isle of Wight Ladies Golf Association (IWLGA) Captain – hosted the event. Taking first place, carding 25.6, were Sue Cox (Ryde), Jackie Stephen (Shanklin and Sandown), Barbara Sleap (Westridge) and Di Clark (Freshwater Bay). Jane Wilson (Shanklin & Sandown), Jan Pike (Osborne), Lynne Backshall (Ryde) and Lorraine Swallow (Westridge) took 2nd place with a score of 26.2, and Judith Lazell (Ryde), Lesley Vail (Westridge), Carol Walker (Osborne) and Dot Porter (Freshwater Bay) were 3rd with a score of 27.4.
