Yet another revised timetable introduced on Red Funnel’s Red Jet service yesterday (Tuesday) is to now continue into Thursday, it has been announced. Red Jet 6 was once again pulled from service on Tuesday due to an interceptor seal failure. Red Funnel announced a revised timetable for that afternoon, to continue into Wednesday morning. Now, the cross-Solent operator has confirmed that the revised, 1-boat service will continue throughout today and into Thursday morning too. The current weather forecast and tidal conditions, alongside Red Jet 6’s operating limitations, means that the vessel cannot return to service today. It is unclear why Red Jet 6 appears to have different limitations to Red Jets 4 and 7. It follows numerous other issues in recent weeks, which have seen the hi-speed West Cowes to Southampton route operate a predominantly 1-craft service since December. The revised timetable for Wednesday 14th February is: Departing Southampton: 0530 / 0640 / 0750 / 0900 / 1020 / 1130 / 1240 / 1350 / 1500 / 1535 / 1610 / 1645 / 1720 / 1755 / 1830 / 1940 / 2105 / 2230 Departing West Cowes: 0605 / 0715 / 0825 / 0935 / 1055 / 1205 / 1315 / 1425 / 1535 / 1610 / 1645 / 1720 / 1755 / 1830 / 1905 / 2015 / 2140 / 2305 The revised timetable for Thursday has not yet been released. UPDATE @ 20:15 – Red Funnel has now confirmed that Red Jet 6 will return to service from 07:15 departing Southampton and 07:50 departing West Cowes on Thursday morning. The Red Jet service will return to normal timetable from this time.
