UPDATED: Emergency services are this morning (Thursday) attending a road traffic collision on Blackwater Road which has resulted in one person becoming trapped in their vehicle.
The collision, which has occurred on the A3056 between Merstone Lane and Blackwater Hollow, has resulted in the closure of the road.
Two Fire crews from Newport Fire Station are currently working to free one person following the two-car collision. Police and ambulance crews are also on the scene.
UPDATE @ 08:22 – One male has been transferred into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service by firefighters.
The incident is not as serious as first thought, with no major injuries reported. One fire appliance has now left the scene.
The road has now been reopened.
