UPDATED: One person is reported to be trapped inside their vehicle following a collision at Blackwater this lunchtime (Thursday).
Two vehicles have collided on Blackwater Hollow between the A3056 Blackwater Road and Rookley, resulting in the closure of the road.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are currently on the scene alongside Police and Ambulance crews and are extricating the trapped person from the wreckage of their vehicle.
UPDATE @ 12:37 – Two appliances from Newport Fire Station were called to the incident just before 11:55, it has been confirmed.
One female has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport by ambulance.
UPDATE @ 13:05 – A woman has escpaed with minor injuries following today’s collision, which is understood to have involved a Blue Peugeot 206 and a Silver Mazda.
Hampshire Constabulary have said the road is likely to remain closed until at least 13:30. Recovery has been arranged for both vehicles involved and Island Roads are en-route to the scene to assist in the clear up operation.
Southern Vectis Route 3 buses are diverting via Merstone until further notice.
UPDATE @ 14:50 – Blackwater Hollow has now reopened to traffic in both directions.
Southern Vectis buses will now resume a normal route.
