The driver of a Kia has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital this morning (Tuesday) after crashing their car onto its side in Freshwater. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the scene on Middleton in Freshwater, shortly after 11:00. Joining them on the scene were resources from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and a single fire appliance from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters worked to make the vehicle – which was left in the middle of the carriageway – safe, handing the casualty into the care of paramedics. Their injuries are believed to be minor. Island Echo understands that the driver was blinded by the sunlight and clipped a parked vehicle, with the vehicle coming to rest on its side. The road is to remain blocked until recovery has been arranged.
