An uninsured vehicle has been taken off the road after being stopped on a McDonald’s takeaway run by Police.
Officers from the Joint Operations Unit pulled the Peugeot 206 on Princelett Shute near Apse Heath earlier this evening.
It was soon discovered that not only was the car uninsured, but the driver did not hold a licence either.
The car had been driven all the way to Ryde’s McDonald’s drive-thru on Brading Road before returning towards Whiteley Bank via Newchurch.
The car was seized and the driver was left to walk home – but they were able to keep their cold McDonald’s meal to enjoy en-route.
The local driver will be able to recover the car if suitable documentation is provided to the authorities.

Haha Haha expensive maccies that cost and possibly hassle to get home
Can afford take aways but no money for car insurance – disgusting!
Well done Police.
Uninsured and NO licence, no way should they get the car back.
The car if roadworthy should be sold and not returned or crushed.
Get a life
Oh dear was it your car??
Lol
Pathetic virtue-signalling by the police.
DVLA know which cars aren’t insured; which cars aren’t taxed; which cars haven’t got MOTs.
So how about a little pro-active policing and getting these cars crushed before they cause bother to law abiding citizens.
A drive down North Road , Shanklin right now would reap rewards if plod could be bothered.
But no. Too busy having a tea break – been there all day today.
But then North Road does get special dispensation, for as yet undisclosed reasons………
Yes I know they use it as a speedway by the ford club reported loads of times but nothing done until they kill one of the elderly residents
What do McDonalds and the police have in common?
They both do takeaways
Is this really news material?? Come on guys
yes it is news, its letting the low life’s know they can’t get away with running a car for free,
Yes it’s taken uninsured drivers off the road
This car should be crushed.
No insurance is serious and merits a significant punishment but the driver having no licence is far more worrying .
This should result in the car bring crushed and a significant suspended jail sentence or he or she will be likely to regard a fine and points on a future licence as having got away with this .
Sadly fines are often ignored by people who are prepared to behave like this and the points are a joke as they are likely not to bother with passing the driving test anyway, meaning the points are of no consequence.
Points and fines only modify the behaviour of people with some conscience and sense of responsibility, not those of the mindset that they don’t care about law and will do what they like .
At least with a suspended sentence there are real consequences and even they might eventually get the message that this is totally unacceptable behaviour.
Hope the police keep taking uninsured cars off the road
Anyone suspecting a car has no tax or MOT and is on a public road can go to the DVLA website ,and just by typing in the car number , can find out. Then It can be reported via the website. These vehicles must be kept on private land only until they are taxed and MOT tested.
Good job completed by our island police force. What makes these people think they can drive illegally and get away with it. Pay your way like everyone else
Think they can get away with it,because they do, how many times has that car and others have been driven before they are caught, and given a slappy wrist then buy another one and do it again because they can
I’m lovin’ it.
What a Mc Idiot
Why debate about crushing the car? The car should be sold and the driver should be crushed….well certainly his genitals! That will stop him reproducing the next lowlife generation(s), who will also have no regard or respect for the law, the police, and all other civilized human beings.
I will give £50 for the car ( probably drove like it’s been stolen) then il insure and tax it! Cheers!!
