The nominations have been announced for the Isle of Wight’s most prestigious awards – the IW Chamber Business Awards 2022, sponsored by WightFibre.
A glitz and glam ceremony will be hosted at Cowes Yacht Haven on Friday 6th May by award-winning comic magicians Griffin and Jones. It will be the first time the awards have been held since 2019, when Island Echo picked up Micro Business of the Year.
In total 39 Isle of Wight businesses are nominated this year, with 52 nominations across 15 categories. The awards submissions were judged by a panel of 20 impartial experts, largely off-Island, with some based internationally.
Steven Holbrook, IW Chamber Chief Executive, says:
“What a vibrant and exciting shortlist! More than ever, our nominations reflect success across a really wide and diverse set of businesses. The standard of submissions this year was incredibly high and it is fabulous to see so many businesses engaging with our awards, across all sectors.
“Although 2021 was a far from typical year, the way that the Island’s business community adapted – and in many cases thrived – has been remarkable. The judges had some real headaches and getting nominated this year is an incredible success. For the businesses that didn’t make it, some will have missed out by the tiniest of margins against terrific competition. Every business that submitted an entry will receive feedback on request, once the awards have been presented.
“We’re thrilled to be able to bring the IW Chamber Business Awards back for 2022. Moving the awards to May, away from our traditional November slot will also change the feel of the evening, as we will all be arriving in daylight, in warmer weather. We’re very excited about our hosts Griffin and Jones who will be bringing the flavour of the Edinburgh Fringe to the ceremony; we will also welcome DJ Archie Easton, formerly of the Cuban Brothers, who will get the after-show party started in style. We’re all set for a spectacular show.”
