25-year-old Charlie Bolland has walked away from court with a community order after being sentenced for sexually communicating with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
Bolland, of Stephenson Road in Cowes, first appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 4th November, where he admitted a number of sexual offences including attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child, possession of indecent images of Category A, B and C, and possession of extreme pornography depicting intercourse with an animal.
The court heard how, in May 2020, Bolland used the app Kik to message someone he thought was a young girl. The account actually belonged to an undercover police officer, who told Bolland – then 19 years old – that she was just 13 years old.
The inappropriate communication continued on Instagram, where Bolland described the decoy’s photos as ‘pretty’. He then went on to talk about kissing, but stated that ‘no one could ever know’. Bolland continued the sexual conversation by stating that he could teach the girl ‘naughty things’.
Bolland later sent a selfie-type photo alongside 3 photos of his erect penis, asking the ‘teenager’ if she wanted to ‘play with it’.
When Police knocked on Bolland’s door and searched his phone, they found indecent images – namely 16x Category A, 11x Category B, 18x Category C and 2 images showing sexual intercourse with an animal.
Now, Bolland has been sentenced for his crimes. It follows a 5-year delay in bringing the matter to a conclusion due to delays in downloading phone data and staffing changes within the Police.
At a sentencing hearing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Friday 19th December, Judge Daniel Sawyer handed Bolland a 3-year community order with 120 hours of unpaid work, 26 days Building Choices programme and 20 rehabilitation days attached. He must pay a £95 surcharge.
Charlie Bolland, who has already signed the Sex Offenders Register and must do so for the next 5 years, has also been ordered to comply with a 5-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

What is happening with judges on this island. Constantly letting paedophiles and criminals off with a slap on the wrist.
If something happened to someone they knew I bet it would be different.
Stop constantly letting young lads in their 20s off cause they grow up in years but there just still as sick!!!
Lock them up
Why do these nonces keep getting away with it
