Planned maintenance means that the Cowes Floating Bridge will be out of action for several hours tomorrow night (Tuesday). The Isle of Wight Council says that the East Cowes to Cowes service will be suspended between the hours of 18:00 and 23:00 on 9th July. Those looking to cross the River Medina on foot or on a bicycle will still be able to do so with a launch service in place. However, motorists will have to divert via Newport. It has not been revealed what exactly the planned maintenance involves.

Would it not be better to do such ‘planned’ works outside of (supposed) operating hours?
