UPDATED: Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat has rescued 2 youngsters from a secluded part of the East Wight coast tonight (Monday).
The volunteer lifeboat crew were called into action by Solent Coastguard at around 21:00 and made best speed to Luccombe between Shanklin and Ventnor. It’s there that 2 people – thought to be a boy and a girl – were located.
Thankfully, the duo appear uninjured and have been taken to the safety of Ventnor Haven.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team have met with the lucky pair, who are thought to have become cut off by the tide in an area known for such misadventure.
Sandown Lifeboat has now stood down from the incident and is returning to station.
UPDATE @ 22:35 – Mark Birch, operations manager of Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat has praised the rescued pair for their quick thinking in alerting the emergency services, as well as helping to guide the lifeboat in to their location.
