NHS TRUSTS TO FACE ONE ANOTHER IN FRIENDLY FOOTBALL MATCH

2 local NHS Trusts will be going head-to-head in a charity friendly football game, in what will be a first for the community health organisations.

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust football team and the Solent NHS Trust football team will play one another other at Test Park Sports Ground in Southampton* on Thursday 16th May – 18:30 kick off.

Both Trusts are hosting the football match, in order to raise money for their respective charities; Solent Beacon and Isle of Wight NHS Trust Charitable Funds, as well as to positively promote staff physical health and wellbeing.

Paul Hemmet, Performance Support Officer for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, said:

“When my colleague Nick suggested we contact Solent NHS Trust to arrange a game, we jumped at the opportunity. It was an excellent way to not only to enable better awareness of the charitable funds group and also boost staff morale and fitness.

“We are looking forward to visiting Southampton on May 16, and hope that we can arrange a return game over on the Island in the near future. It would be excellent if we can make this a regular fixture.”

Steve Scutchings, Estates Operations Manager at Solent NHS Trust, said:

“The call from Paul was very timely as I was keen to setup a Trust Team as we had previously played 6-a-side tournaments with other trusts but this had not happened for a couple of years. The Trust have supported the idea and we have purchased a new kit so the plan is to have a rematch later this Summer on the Isle of Wight and hopefully this can be an annual game.
