Over £2,000 has been raised for The Wight Brainy Bunch following a charity football match between the Isle of Wight NHS Trust and the Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service.
Players from the 2 frontline services came together at Beatrice Avenue in East Cowes yesterday (Sunday) for the much-anticipated match.
It was a ding dong battle between the blues and the reds throughout, but it was the NHS who took a 6-5 victory at the final whistle. The match was 2-2 at half time.
Kathryn Grimes from The Wight Brainy Bunch has said:
“A massive well done to team NHS and thank you to both teams for taking part in this charity match for us! Thank you also to Mandy Blackler, Paul Hemmett and Rob Bennetts for organising everything.
“A brilliant day raising £2090.65, which is incredible!”
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Steve Apter and Dan Tasker, Assistant Director of Operations for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, were both present during the match showing their support for colleagues on the Isle of Wight.
