A Newport man who called his mum and threatened to ‘batter the s**t out of her’, is to be sentenced in November.
Alex Graham, 27, of Horsebridge Hill in Newport, admitted 2x send by public communication network an offensive/indecent/obscene/menacing message/ matter when he appeared before a District Judge at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Friday).
Prosecuting, Serena Edwards, told the court that on the afternoon of the 23rd January, Graham and his mother had become involved in a verbal exchange outside of his mother’s home address.
After a brief interaction, Graham left the scene and returned home where he proceeded to call his mother calling her an ‘ugly piece of s**t’ and ‘scumbag c**t’ before threatening to ‘ram you off the road’.
The court also heard how Graham text his mother to say ‘I hope to you die’.
During an interview at Newport Police Station, Graham admitted to being angry but said that he never had any intention of going through with any of the threats he had made.
Defending Graham, who has 3 convictions on his record, Oscar Vincent told the court that Graham had admitted that his actions were ‘regretful’.
The case has been adjourned until the 14th November so a pre-sentence report can be compiled.

Threatening his own mother
It is shocking, only one place for such persons.
Behind bars.
Sounds like a very dangerous person.
if an individual can do that to their own mum
what can they do to someone else.
Very worrying.
i am a very nice person. There is lots more backstory to this and the threat was not made towards my mother. If they were so scared I would do that why would I be approached in the pub by them to ask for a cuddle? And no I’m not nice to a person that tried to put her child’s head underwater as punishment. Please realise that the news misses all of this out.
I agree with you – there’s always a reason why folk behave as they do and childhood trauma has a great deal to answer for. It affects people for life but can be challenged with the right support.
I don’t condone abusive behaviour of any kind, especially not to your Mum or any woman, but we don’t know all the facts of your case and probably never will.
If this is indeed the Alex the story refers to then, no matter what the backstory, your actions are not the solution.
Believe me when I say that walking away is always a safer option. Life is too short to waste time on others that would not give you any of theirs.
And to those who say “..its his mum..” may I remind you that does not automatically make a person wholesome, right, virtuous and true.
Alex remember ur a decent bloke we all know what your mother is like. Keep chin up bro
No one has said what she has done to you and ur little brother.
All because of that half whit (Dan)
