Sunday 3rd July saw 104 golfers take to the course at Newport for an 18-hole scramble to raise money for the Isle of Wight Golf Team, raising almost £1,000.

The next Island Games will be in Guernsey in July 2023 and 8 players and 2 managers will be travelling to the Channel Islands from the Island.

Recently held, the Newport scramble was the 2nd successful fundraiser for the team with the 1st held at Shanklin & Sandown raising over £1,500, with the most recent one raising £980.

The winning team was Marg Kirby, Lynne Backshall, Joy Jenkins and Jo Rowley who scored an impressive net 56 to win the competition by a clear 4 shots.

2nd was C McAllister, B McAllister, A Jones and A Jones.  This team included 2 juniors who, due to their age, had to swap out the wine for Titleist golf balls !!

In 3rd place was A Dudley, P Redhead, P Tizard and R. Dixcey. Capping off a great day’s golf raising money for a good cause.
