Newport CC 1st team have been confirmed as Division 1 title winners after beating Shanklin by 150 runs at Westhill on Saturday 6th August.
A superb 118 by Adam Wilson and an excellent 76 from skipper Gareth Bricknell, as well as a quick-fire 40 from the returning Harry Dye helped Newport amass a big score of 299 on a tricky Shanklin wicket. Shanklin started well in their reply, but good pressure from the Newport bowlers and fielders helped to bowl the home side out for 149 with Wilson again contributing with ball, taking 4 wickets to cement his status as man-of-the-match. Aaron Hartup continued his fine form with ball, as he picked up 2 wickets himself, including the 1st and final wickets of the innings.
