Netflix have released a new film telling the distressing story of Lucie Blackman’s disappearance 23 years ago in Japan.
The true crime documentary entitled ‘Missing: The Lucie Blackman Case’ was released last week and tells the harrowing story through interviews with various people including her father Tim Blackman, who lives on the Isle of Wight.
Tim, from Ryde, gained prominence leading the fight for justice in his daughter’s case and worked tirelessly to try and find out what became of her.
The investigation caused a media storm in both Japan and the UK at the time and subsequently led to the creation of the Lucie Blackman Trust, a charity set up to help British nationals in crisis overseas as well as their families.
Blackman’s family has since stepped away from the organisation which was subsequently rebranded as LBT Global.
The summary of the 82 minute documentary – which is currently the most watched film in the UK on Netflix – states:

Mainly because the poor girl was very attractive. If it had been some ugly, fat or black minger, few would bother to watch or care. So shallow is modern society but we are all guilty of such.
