Following a period of careful refurbishment, The Buddle Inn at Niton will reopen on Sunday 10th March – just in time for Mother’s Day. The Buddle Inn, 1 of the Island’s oldest pubs, has been closed for the winter to allow owners to undertake a careful uplift of the pub’s interior and kitchen. An 18th-century smugglers inn, preservation of The Buddle’s unique character and charm has been at the forefront of the refurb, enhancing the Grade II listed pub’s flagstone and oak flooring, bar area and rustic barn. Comfortable bench seating has been installed throughout the pub, with new life breathed into The Buddle’s décor with the aim to add light, while maintaining the cosy and traditional feel of the olde world inn. Behind the scenes, improvements have been made to The Buddle’s kitchen and back-of-house area, providing a better working environment for staff and enabling additional service covers. Works are also underway to turn disused staff accommodation into 4 bedrooms, opening up the opportunity to become a boutique B&B later this year, further securing the pub’s future. Alongside the improvements made to the pub’s infrastructure, The Buddle is pleased to introduce a brand-new kitchen and hospitality team for the year ahead, led by talented Head Chef Mike Carley. Bookings are now open for Mother’s Day celebrations on 01983 730243, with a special 3-course menu available.

No, you were right in the headline – it’s Mothering Sunday. Mothers’ Day – with or without the apostrophe – is an invention of the Americans taken up by the greetings card industry, with no basis in tradition or social history.
Pedant. But right and I like it!
Mothering Sunday is/was a day for honouring mother churches. A mother church is the church where one is baptised and becomes a child of the church. Mothering Sunday is celebrated on the fourth Sunday in Lent.
Come back John Bourne, John and Pat run a real pub.
Can’t wait for Character Inns to ruin it again.
Good luck Buddle!
Fond memories of you.
Tough having go around the houses to get to you now with the underclife road shut. Must have lost so much trade.
Cheers to your success.
