New headteachers look set to be appointed at Carisbrooke College, Medina College and the Island Sixth Form by the start of the 2025 academic year.
Following the news that the Isle of Wight Education Federation is to be disbanded after 12 years, further details of what the future holds for the schools involved have come to light. As first reported by Island Echo, the formal joint federation is to come to an end to allow each school to focus more on running as separate entities. It’s said that this separate approach should not adversely affect the day-to-day experience of students and parents. Matthew Parr-Burman, the current executive headteacher of the federation, has confirmed that a headteacher will be appointed for each individual school in time for September next year. None of the schools look set to close so the future of pupils’ education looks safe, but redundancies could be on the cards for the staff that work across the 3 educational establishments. Senior staff members are now being consulted about what the future holds as a result of this shake-up, with that consultation to continue until mid-March. A failure for any of the schools to achieve ‘Good’ status with Ofsted has led to the disbandment of the Federation.

Not failing of schools, again failing of Ofsted that does more harm than good. Schools need to improve yes but they need help and support not a score. Now we will see New headteachers on £85/£100,000 yet LSA and support staff loose their jobs!. During the next 12mth moral of teachers and students will be low and expect some teachers will leave/retire.
Ofsted aims to ensure that schools and colleges reach suitable standards. They get a low rating when they don’t reach those standards. Would you rather go back to the old days when schools and colleges could do as they please and ruin lives with poor teaching? These Ofsted ratings are given to drive standards up. Schools and colleges receive detailed reports to highlight specific problems and they are expected to address them.
I presume you mean their morale! Perhaps ofsted is required to keep schools on their toes especially regarding spelling!
We need to make sure are old farts are not harming them
What an absolute disaster this has been.
This all started to fall apart after the change of head of federation a few years ago, some of us predicted the federation would be ruined, looks like we were right.
