Policing on the Isle of Wight will be headed up by a new District Commander in 2022, as it is announced that Superintendent Sarah Jackson is moving on to pastures new.
Supt. Jackson, who currently has over 150 officers and staff under her command, is to become a leadership trainer at the College of Policing after 6 years at the helm of the Isle of Wight.
Sarah joined the police in August 1989 and served the New Forest and Southampton before transferring to Ashford in Kent, where she was promoted to sergeant. She returned to Hampshire in 2003 as an inspector before being promoted to chief inspector in 2006. Then, 8 years later, Sarah became a superintendent whilst a staff officer for the Chief Constable.
It was in 2015 that Supt. Jackson returned to the Isle of Wight, where she grew up, to become District Commander.
Superintendent Sarah Jackson has said:
“It is with heavy heart I announce that my time as District Commander for the Isle of Wight draws to a close.
“This moment is bittersweet – I am sad to leave, but at the same time excited to venture off to pastures new, taking up a secondment with the College of Policing as a leadership trainer.
“I will take with me not only my experience, but an array of incredibly fond memories policing the Isle of Wight.

“To lead the incredibly dedicated police team here on the Island, a place where I grew up, has been a huge privilege. I know the job of keeping the Island safe is in very capable hands not only in terms of the policing team, but also the partners it has been my pleasure to work with.”
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to announce Supt. Jackson’s replacement.
It would be interesting to see if it could be a male police officer this time, just to make a change
