A motorcycle crash on a rural West Wight road has seen the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance scrambled to the Isle of Wight tonight (Wednesday).
Police have closed Brook Road between Chessell and Brook as a result of the single vehicle collision, which occurred shortly before 22:25.
Island Echo understands a male has sustained serious injuries after coming off his motorcycle at speed.
No other vehicles have been involved.
Flying medics have landed in a field beside Middle Road, which has also been closed in both directions as the injured male is transferred from the ambulance to the helicopter.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has 2 appliances from Newport and Freshwater on scene, alongside a fire officer.
UPDATE @ 00:02 – The injured motorcyclist has been flown directly to Southampton’s Major Trauma Centre with what is understood to be a hip injury.
Emergency services remain on scene.
Further updates are expected from Police on Thursday morning
Our NHS is still overwhelmed with such a huge
waiting list for treatment.
If only persons remembered that fact when driving / riding.
The article states coming off motorcycle at speed, so I am
guessing speeding is the cause!
Life is not like that old timer.
Yes, when I get into my car, I think of the NHS before starting it…..
Even at 30mph you can seriously injure yourself on a bike. People dont purposely hurt themselves do they!
What an insensitive comment to make, utter moron. Have an awful day. 🙂
You have a lot to learn.
Take a drive along the Military Road,
even after such a tragic accident you will
see Motorcyclists travelling at the speed of
light along the Military Road.
One day last summer I was driving along with my
window open and from nowhere a motorbike
went flying past at the speed of light.
My body froze for a moment and I am telling the
truth.
Roads are not safe on 4 wheels yet alone 2
Why why why do people have to go so fast!
Life is more important than risking an accident
not only for themselves and for others.
Guessing. Yes, that’s what you do and then make your usual judgements. You just can’t stop yourself.
You have a lot to learn.

I drive along the Mili Road many times and witness the opposite, so your little anecdotes mean nothing. You have a lot to learn but you never will because you’re a self-important, opinionated old numpty
You spurt on about speeding, cameras etc yet know nothing of which you speak, even asking for Godshill to be paved over without giving a thought about local businesses.
Speed cameras are only placed in what is known as KSI’s ( Killed or Serious injury ) for your information so try to remember that.
My profession was dealing with all the above on a daily basis so stop guessing on things you know nothing about and let the professionals do their job and give the rest of us a bit of peace and quiet from your relentless rubbish you come out with.
He has an illness
Why is this idiot enough is enough allowed to post so much drivel.
Care in the community. 🙂
