Emergency services are this evening attending to a serious road traffic collision on Brading Down Road on the outskirts of the town.
The crash, believed to involve a motorcycle and a car, happened shortly before 16:30.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed at the scene to perform a patient medivac, indicating the seriousness of the injuries sustained.
This comes just 24hrs after a motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a red Vauxhall Astra in Shanklin.
The road remains closed by Police at both ends of the road.
UPDATE @ 18:21 – The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) has now left the scene nearly 2 hours after the collision occurred.
UPDATE @ 22:30 – Brading Down Road has reopened this evening following the serious two-vehicle smash shortly before a sharp downhill left bend towards Newport.
Both vehicles have now been recovered by specialist recovery experts Stag Lane Motors.
UPDATE @ 11:00 TUESDAY – The motorcyclist was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport by land ambulance and is said to be in a stable condition this morning. The HIOWAA was notrequired to carry out a patient medivac, however did attend the scene.
