Major supermarket chains Morrisons and Sainsbury’s are set to ban customers who refuse to wear a mask or face covering in their stores.
With concerns that supermarkets are breeding grounds for the virus, as the new variant spreads like wildfire amongst communities, steps are being taken to tackle the issue.
Shoppers should be wearing face coverings whilst inside anyway but now the rules look set to be enforced more heavily.
The supermarkets are also reducing the number of people allowed in each store at once and are becoming strict on ensuring people are shopping alone, not as a family unit.
Those who are exempt from wearing a mask will still be allowed to shop. Exemptions include:
• Children under 11
• Where wearing a mask would risk harm or injury to others
• People who physically cannot put a mask on or wear one
• People for whom putting on, wearing or taking off a mask would cause severe distress
• People accompanying someone who lip reads

About time too, but I fear too little late. The covidiots will be spitting feathers, which is preferable to them spitting covid.
I hope the police will be helping for the first few days.
Agreed Tom.
But have you seen the exemptions. The only one that makes any sense, well to me is the lip reading one. I mean how on earth could you Harm or injure anybody by wearing a mask. I certainly mean no offence but its lost on me.
I thought the same!
All supermarket need to do, is ONLY allow those arrogant fools AND the genuine one or two who can’t for whatever odd reason wear a face mask, is to ONLY allow those people in on two days a week for ONE HOUR before closing time.
That way they could have minimum staff on to cut risks, could then infect less as few would be in the store compared to other times, and as near closing time, the store could be sprayed by staff once they had all gone out, safeguarding the store for staff and the users the next day.
NOT perfect, but better than constantly checking the arrogant to the odd or genuinely ‘unable to wear’ masks public.
Some can’t help it like Martin Clunes, as if your ears are low as his are, the mask attached then covers your chin, not your mouth, but such conditions are thankfully rare.
Yea. Good point AG. What if you aint got no ears. you realy are in trouble
If you haven’t got ears then tie the mask around the back of your head. Their should be no exceptions. This is about the right to life of the majority not the perceived rights of the selfish individual. If you pretend you can’t wear a mask then don’t go to a supermarket, get your food delivered.
It’s funny that you think super markets use any kind of spraying technique to safe guard the store!
The arrogant ones who just won’t wear one shouldn’t be allowed in full stop! They’ll soon get hungry
WHAT A JOKE!! How ridiculous and brainwashed you all are is actually quite funny!! How about you start questioning what is really happening!
Next it will be forced vacations.
I’ll wait for the thumbs down
Go on then Mrs brown….enlighten us to what is really happening oh wise one
Your delusional if you think I will tell you! Your big enough to post on IE so maybe try and be big enough to have an open mind and do your own research. Now that’s not rocket science is it!
Oh wise one open your eyes.
You won’t say cos you can’t and don’t know what you’re talking about!
Dont waste your time and energy anymore, let them burn. Tc mrs brown.
The real idiots are those in the at risk category that insist on going out, it is those that keep bumping up the fatality stat. For goodness sake stay at home so that the able can keep society going!
Sadly Rob not all of us who are in the “At Risk” category has the pleasure of staying at home we still have to pop out, we too have to eat we dont all have luxury of having family or friends who can go ^ do shopping for us another point at risk people are still having to leave home The Government hasnt extended MOT;s on cars so we are forced to go out to comply with law of a motor vehicle having an MOT mine is due next week & I still have to take it to be done I rely on my car for shopping etc & cant afford to have it off the road I think youi will find that it is only the Clinically Venerable that are being told to shield not those in the “At Risk” category
So every one is individual, everyone has the right to object yada yada yada.
Take one for the team and wear a bloody mask, simple.
I’m sure if people still possessed the spirit of those who fought and or lived through the second world war there wouldn’t be such divisions.
And we as a nation would get a grip on covid sooner.

As kids are often some of the worst spreaders, there is no reason why they should not wear masks. And as for the rest, come on, if I, having asthma, and panic and anxiety, can wear one, so can someone with meticulously applied makeup that maybe they don’t want to smudge or cover up by wearing a mask, or someone who thinks they may have to shout even louder to be heard when talking into their mobile phones for the whole journey on their trip home from work. There should be absolutely no exceptions whatsoever, unless in the very rare circumstances where there might be a very real and genuine reason for not wearing one. but how wearing a flimsy paper mask can be so dangerous for anyone, is hard to understand and certainly does not apply to the majority of people who don’t wear one, of which there are many, and often the same types of people it has to be said, let’s just be polite and say the rougher end of the social spectrum. It should be compulsory for all, no exemptions, too many are claiming to be exempt, and just anyone can, it’s a joke.

If someone has a ‘medical reason’ for not wearing a mask they shouldn’t be out shopping.
They are putting themselves at risk as well as everyone else – selfish pigs.
No excuses in my book – get your bloody mask on or stay at home.
