The Isle of Wight Morris Minor Owners Club is to hold its annual rally at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway in Havenstreet on Sunday 1st September. On the day there will be a variety of stalls, a tombola, live entertainment, falconry displays and entry to the Steam Railway, as well as bus rides on the Old Girl open top bus. All money raised from the tombola will be donated to the club’s nominated charity, Ryde Inshore Rescue. Classic cars of all makes are very welcome to display and prizes will be awarded for the best cars on show. Those attending with a classic are asked to arrive on site no later than 09:30, with no vehicle movements permitted until the show ends at 16:00. This event is free to attend so perfect to take along the whole family and friends. The site is also dog-friendly.

All of these old cars should NOT be allowed on the roads without being upgraded to modern safety and emissions standards.
At minimum, better brakes&tyres, and better catalytic converter to reduce their horrible fumes.
Anything over 20 years old should require an overhaul or be banned from the road.
I’m not against classic cars, but either trailer them into events (as happens with specialist racecars etc) or (unobtrusively) update them to be compliant with modern road standards.
